With every wedding I do, I either learn a little something new or something I already knew becomes blatantly clear again. This past week is no different so I am going to pass it on.
What I am sharing with you today is not rocket science. Far from it, it’s more like common sense. Here we go:
You can plan, plan, plan and plan and confirm and double check the details for your wedding but you HAVE to be a bit flexible. People are involved. Human beings. Things will change slightly, shift a bit and decisions on the day will have to be made that you may not have expected to have to make. Just go with it. The more precise you try to be the bigger the chance you have that it won’t go according to plan and that, as we all know, is frustrating on a normal day but on your wedding day could be completely disappointing.
Now don’t get me wrong. I’m not saying don’t have high expectations. I’m certainly not saying that. We must have high expectations to even get near to achieving perfection. And “just OK’ is not good enough but please be aware that perfection is extremely rare and nigh impossible. I’m sorry to have to break that to you.
Plan for perfection but be flexible in your expectations of what really is perfection. A relaxed happy wedding day really should be it so heed the advice you often hear from newlyweds and “Don’t sweat the small stuff”.
